Marrakech
An imperial city at the foot of the High Atlas, with Jemaa el-Fna square, its souks and gardens, and a common starting point for routes south.
About Marrakech
Marrakech is one of Morocco's four imperial cities and, for many travellers, their first stop in the country. Its medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, revolves around Jemaa el-Fna square.
With its airport and its closeness to the High Atlas, it is also the starting point of many routes to Aït Ben Haddou, the southern valleys and the desert.
What to see
Jemaa el-Fna square at different times of day.
The souks of the medina.
The Ben Youssef madrasa.
The Bahia palace and the Majorelle gardens.
