Seven days in Morocco: from medinas to the dunes
A one-week itinerary idea that combines city, mountains and desert without spending the whole trip on the road.
A week is enough to see a good sample of Morocco if you choose the route well. This proposal is only a guide and can be adapted to your dates and pace.
Days 1 and 2: Marrakech
Two days to explore the medina, the souks, the palaces and the gardens, with time to rest in the riad and enjoy Jemaa el-Fna square at nightfall.
Days 3 and 4: the Atlas and the road south
Head south over the Atlas via the Tizi n'Tichka pass, stopping at Aït Ben Haddou and in the Dades or Todra valleys.
Day 5: the dunes
Arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon, walk to the camp and spend the night in the desert.
Days 6 and 7: return or continue
From the desert you can head back towards Marrakech or continue to Fez, ending the trip in the north.
Allow more time if you want to add Chefchaouen or the coast.
Driving days are long: plan stops.
In high season, get in touch well in advance.
