Sunrise over the Sahara dunes
Climbing an Erg Chebbi dune before the sun rises and watching the sand turn from grey to orange with the first light.

About Sunrise over the Sahara dunes
A desert sunrise means an early start, but it pays off. From the top of a dune you watch the first light outline the crests of Erg Chebbi and change the colour of the sand minute by minute.
It is the best moment for landscape photography and, especially in summer, the coolest time of day.
Tips
Leave in good time: climbing a dune is harder than it looks.
Bring a warm layer; it is chilly before dawn.
A head torch helps on the way up.
Practical information
It is usually done from a camp or lodging near the dunes, as part of a night in Merzouga. Availability, length, price and conditions are confirmed when you request a quote.
