High Atlas

Morocco's great mountain range, with valleys of Berber villages, the Tizi n'Tichka pass and Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa.

About High Atlas

The High Atlas crosses Morocco from south-west to north-east and separates Marrakech from the southern valleys. Its valleys are dotted with Berber villages and terraced fields.

Desert routes cross it over the Tizi n'Tichka pass. For walking, the Imlil area at the foot of Toubkal is one of the most accessible from Marrakech.

What to expect

  • Winding mountain roads with viewpoints.

  • Cooler temperatures than on the plain, with possible snow in winter.

  • Walking routes for different levels.
